An Uncommon Presentation of Primary Amyloid Myelopathy

Primary amyloid myelopathy is a rare neurological disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid proteins in the spinal cord. This deteriorating condition typically manifests with progressive paresthesia in the limbs, often accompanied by loss of coordination. In this case report, we present a patient with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented featuring an unusual clinical manifestation.

The individual's initial symptoms included severe weakness in the upper extremities, along and urinary incontinence. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed elevated protein levels consistent with amyloid deposits. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.

The treatment plan included supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Nevertheless treatment, the patient's condition continued to worsen. This case highlights the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the open access journal of science differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with asymmetric limb involvement.

An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report

We report a rare case of Crohn's disease in a 42-year-old female presenting with novel symptoms. The patient initially presented symptoms of nausea, which were misdiagnosed as a common gastrointestinalillness. Further investigation revealed colitis. The patient was treated with conventional treatment for Crohn's disease, including steroids. The outcome to treatment was successful.

This case demonstrates the importance of a detailed history in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its manifestations can be diverse.

Clinical Presentation

A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.

Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.

The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.

This report presents a young/ pediatric child presenting with severe acute liver failure following an overdose of acetaminophen. The victim was a seven/7-year-old male/female, who was admitted to the hospital after consuming a toxic dose of acetaminophen. Upon admission, the child exhibited symptoms of jaundice and was found to have elevated liver enzymes.

Medical interventions were initiated to attenuate liver damage, including involvement of N-acetylcysteine and supportive care. The child's condition worsened over the following days, requiring intensive/critical care in the pediatric intensive care unit.

This case highlights the seriousness of acetaminophen overdose in children and the importance/necessity prompt medical intervention to prevent potentially life-threatening consequences.
